I think this looks like a wreath around the bolt.  

 This photo was taken by my cousin, Ronnie. 
He lives in Nashville, Tennessee, 
but he was home visiting for the holidays.

I think once you leave home, 
when you return everything looks different.
Even moss on an old fire hydrant 
can catch your eye in a special way.

 I really don't believe you ever leave home...
you carry it with you. 
(was that on Pinterest? It should be!)


These are a bit random...what's new?

One of the last covered bridges in Georgia...we just stumbled upon it one day.

A door, I just bought...beveled glass and probably close to 100 years old. What do I do first thing? Crack a couple of panes...I'm trying not to talk about it much... it hurts!!!

 Front door wreath got all netty this year!

 I took the bow off of this one,
and hung it on the side door 
for a Winter wreath.

 The bows on this tree really need changing, 
but my mama made them,
and this was her tree. 
I rework it almost every Christmas...
change it up a bit, 
but those bows stay put!

  

What is that red container? 
Well, just hold on I'll tell you!

 
 

It's the bottom of a grill...or maybe the top.

It dresses up well, dontcha think?

 

And now for these lovely lovelies...whatever they are!!??

I found them at a yard sale...don't act surprised now!

They are beautiful, 

and I used them to add some height 

to the mantle this Christmas.

Not sure what others thought, but I thought they worked really well.

I saw them as shelf brackets when I bought them, 

but so far that hasn't worked out.

They are still on the mantle,

so they may have found their spot for the time.

SNOW RAMBLINGS

There's a poem that ends with the line...

We do not become southern, we are born that way. 

Being born southern means 

you are not accustomed 

to snow, sleet and ice, 

or

driving in those conditions. 

Being born southern means that should it snow, 

everything pretty much shuts down, 

schools are closed

and 

every loaf of bread and gallon of milk 

are cleared from the grocery shelves. 

Being born southern means 

that if the weather guy even hints at snow,

you get giddy and excited, 

no matter your age.

Being born southern, 

or just being blessed to be in the south

means

that today you were honored to view 

one of God's most beautiful handy works.

My Jared, 

a professional musician, 

was to play for Georgia's new Governor 

today during inauguration festivities. 

Due to the weather 

all events,

but the swearing in, 

were canceled for today. 

However, they have been rescheduled 

for next weekend. 

So he still has the honor of playing.

He did get to play at the 

Governor's Mansion in Atlanta yesterday, 

but they had to head home quickly 

to beat the icy weather.

I'm one iced in proud mama!

I'm really not in a FOWL mood...

Get it? Sometimes I just crack myself up...

You know about our trip to visit the street chickens. So while I am on our feathered friends I thought I'd show you some of the magnificent photos Bill took recently while he was working his fun second job. He has his real, big boy job, but some times on weekends he works at the GA National Fairgrounds. It's a wonderful place! The fair is held once a year, but year round they have many events like horse shows, dog shows, cattle shows, wedding receptions, concerts, conventions and RV shows. It's a very busy place! It's also a very beautiful place with a huge lake and landscaped grounds.

One day last week we had several loafs of bread that were going stale,

so I told him to take it all out to the fairgrounds and feed it to the fish when he went to work. 

Well...the fish got to eat very little of the bread, because of some winged seasonal visitors. However, Bill got some wonderful pictures of the visiting Canada geese and turtles that live in the huge pond.  

Uh oh...wonder if the geese have heard the loaves and fishes story?

Remember the post I made about the mother geese and babies crossing in front of our car at a busy intersection? I wonder if any of those geese have found this beautiful lake...it's a few miles from that intersection, in distance and safety. That's a nice thought though? I've wondered about those brave little geese many times.
